Two Ways to Build a Team for Better Business and Personal Success

Today, we are looking at building your personal team for greater success. Now, I’ve had the privilege to coach a lot of business owners in many industries. Oftentimes, the larger small business tends to understand the necessity of building a team better than say, the self-employed professional or the very, very small business owner. So this topic works for everyone, but specifically I’m targeting those of you who’s either a solopreneur or only have a few people on your team.

We’re going to discuss two ways to build this team. You might be thinking that you don’t have the budget for a huge team, but no worries. The ways below will work for you regardless of your budget. So here we go:

1. Building a team of people that you don’t know personally, but you have access to their ideas. For example, in your industry, who are the thought leaders? How do they interpret what’s going on in your industry today, and where do they see the industry heading? What are their best practices? Check out the books they’ve written, educational videos they’ve shot, or any online courses they may have created.

I know it sounds a little bit funny to consider these people as part of your team, but it’s truly more about the resources they provide in this case. And I’m not just talking about business. This can also apply to many other areas of your life. Health, for instance. What resources out there can help you improve your health? How often do you look at them? You get the idea.

2. Building a team of people that you do know personally; people you can interact with. Whether virtually, over the phone, or face-to-face. They are the ones who can help you get to where you want to be in business. Some examples include your CPA, banker, business coach, lawyer, internet marketer, graphic designer, virtual assistant, and so on. As you can see, there are a lot of different people that can be on your team in this sense. The same question can be asked for the other areas of your life, like health. Who’s on your team to help you lose weight and get fit?

Once you decide on a team, you should figure out how often to meet with them in order to get the most out of your relationships.

So again, it’s about these two different types of people who can be on your success team. The first includes resources or thought leaders, and the second are people you know personally, who you can interact directly with.

Oftentimes, when people are missing the mark in their business or another area of their lives, it comes down to not having the right team of people or the resources to consistently touch base with. So I want to encourage you to start building your team, have fun, and make it happen today.
