Hello everyone! Great to have you back. Last time we began covering how to execute on our plans for 2018. Now it’s time to talk about a couple of other things related to planning. First and foremost, planning in and of itself isn’t enough. With execution, you also need to think about mastering your calendar. Start by putting the rhythms we mentioned in the last post on your calendar. It’s also a good idea to put other things you want to accomplish on your calendar.
When are you going to knock a particular project out? When are you going to meet with that client? When are you going to focus on business development? When are you going to make time to work out or spend time with your loved ones? You need to get all of that on your calendar to go from big picture planning to execution. After that it’s all about consistency and accountability. Perhaps you’ll need an accountability partner in your life, that holds you to each of these areas and makes sure what you need to do gets done. Use the natural rhythms in your life to put things on your calendar. This will ensure that your plans for each rhythm get carried out.
To recap, here are the three questions we set out to answer in this blog series:
How can I get better in 2018?
How can I improve my business or organization in 2018?
How can I execute my plans and ideas consistently in 2018?
I firmly believe that if you answer those questions, especially when you take the actions you come up with for the third one, 2018 will be the best year of your life. Obviously there are certain things we can’t control, but within the natural flow of normal life, this can and will be your best year so far. Before this series concludes, I want you to imagine that we’re at the end of 2018. We’re looking back on 2018 and you say, “Wow, this was the best year of my life. It was an amazing year because of I got done.” What did you do? What is that one thing that you’ll say made 2018 the best year ever? Think about that in addition to answering these three questions. Then, let’s go out and have fun as we plan and execute.
Thanks so much for bearing with me, this series is longer than what I usually have on any one topic. I’m pretty fired up because all these questions I’m going over with you guys and my clients are also things I’m asking myself. I know 2018 is going to be the best year of my life, the best year for my organization, and the best year for my family. I’m going to be the healthiest I’ve ever been, more dedicated to my faith, and honoring God more than I ever have before. I’m extremely excited about that, and I think you’re going to have a lot to be excited about, too! I wish you great success in 2018. And remember: The best is yet to come! This concludes my blog series on making 2018 your best year. I’ll be back with another post soon on a brand new topic. Until then, have a better than amazing day!
