Hello everyone, thanks for joining me for the second installment of this blog post. Today we’re going to discuss the remaining steps in the process of creating a 25-year extraordinary result. Let’s get to it!
3) Big – It’s important to make sure you think big. You don’t have to know how to get there. You’re figuring out the results you want. You’re not necessarily thinking about the ways to get there yet. Now, when we work with organizations we certainly come up with a strategic plan that takes people step-by-step on how to get there. That’s certainly a big reason to hire a coach or consultant. For right now, however, just think about the extraordinary result. That’s it!
4) Change – Change your environment a bit. Take some time to think about this stuff in a different area from where you usually spend time. If you normally work out of a home office or just an office in general, it can be hard to think when you’re there. Maybe get outside, get outdoors, just go to a different spot to think about all this. Oftentimes when people change their environment they can think more clearly about how to create their 25-year extraordinary result.
5) Write – Write it down. Even if it’s rough draft form get it out of your head and onto paper. Don’t just keep it in your head. Also many people are visual and like to draw a picture or make it beautiful. So maybe you create a vision board of what this looks like or you draw a picture. Or you might want to record it and then have an audio recording of you speaking it out loud. There are a lot of potential ways to document it, the point is to make sure you have it documented in some sort of way so you can see where you’re going.
6) Adjust – Once you get that rough draft down, whether it’s in words, audio, or picture form, you’ll want to make adjustments as you gain clarity. You’re going to have to tweak it over time. It will change and evolve over time so don’t feel like the first time you document your vision it’s cast in concrete and can’t be changed. You’ll definitely be making some adjustments as you go along, it’s only natural.
This concept of answering the question of where you want to be in 25 years, and the steps I’ve provided on how to do that, are really important. This stuff is foundational for people who want to scale up their businesses. On a side note, this is a good thing to do for your personal life as well, figuring out what you’d like to see in your personal life in 25 years. So go out and take action on your 25-year extraordinary result and make it a better than amazing day!
