Hello, and welcome to today’s post! We’re going to talk about sprinting in the business world.
I’ve compiled a list of 5 reasons why a sprint can be helpful in business.
1. Proactivity: Proactive sprints prevent reactive ones. You might say, “It will take some extra time and effort, but I’m going to create a process, checklist, or system to improve my business.” This could be anything that avoids issues later down the road that would require a reactive, emergency sprint to handle. If you make a conscious decision to sprint now rather than doing it under pressure later, your future self will thank you.
2. Tone-setting: A sprint can set the right tone. Whether it’s the beginning of the year, a new quarter, or a new month, a sprint can give your mindset a lift and start you off on the right foot.
3. Wins – Sprints can provide quick wins, which are very motivating. If you sprint at the beginning of the year and compile a few quick wins, it’s energizing, feels good, and ups your confidence. This provides mental invigoration that enables us to prepare for the long road ahead.
4. Boosts – Short sprints can give a boost to those who help support our business. As the leader, sprinting can encourage those around you to do the same, leading to exponential growth. It may also compel your vendors or referral partners to take your lead. In the end, it can cause a huge surge in your business.
5. Thinking – A sprint helps us think of ways to avoid unnecessary sprints. We like the results we get from sprinting, but we know it’s too intense to maintain indefinitely. Maybe you decide you’re going to sprint for your business by going to 10 networking events this week, or making a crazy amount of phone calls, and it gives you amazing results. You’ll love the results, but you can’t do that forever. So, you’ll have to think of sustainable ways to get great results. Perhaps you’ll use the internet or speaking engagements to get leads as a means of networking without exhausting yourself.
I want to encourage all of us to think about business as a long-term jog, figure out when we want to sprint, and then make it happen. Until next time, have a better than amazing day!
