4 Killer Ways to Overcome Bad Mindsets Pt. 1

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a fantastic day. I want to thank you for taking the time out of your day to check out this blog post. We discussed mindsets pretty recently, and we’re going to continue with that topic today. Having the proper mindset is critical for all areas of life, it’s key to success in business and it makes it much easier to have a successful and productive life. So what I want to do is cover four of the things you can look at to improve or enhance your mindset and give you a couple of examples for each.

The 4 Ways to Boost Your Mindset

Method 1: Considering scenarios

What you do: When facing any given situation, consider realistic best-case, worst-case, and most realistic.

Examples: Let’s say you have a fearful mindset about making sales calls. You don’t like to pick up the phone and call people to help them benefit from your product or service. You start sweating and getting nervous, you start pacing, you start doing everything you can to avoid those calls. Or you can start making up excuses about why it’s not important even though you think it is. If you make 30 calls, the realistic best-case scenario is that you instantly get several new clients from those calls, and you would still learn a lot from and have a good experience with the people who don’t’ buy. That is realistic, it could technically happen. Worst-case scenario, realistically, would be calling and getting mostly voicemails and encountering rudeness, curtness, or not so great vibes from the few people you do manage to talk to. And, of course, you don’t sell anything. That would be the worst-case situation within the context of something that’s realistic. Now the most realistic situation would be that you make the calls, you get some voicemails, you maybe get one person who is annoyed, and maybe you make one sale or a lead that will result in a sale later. Knowing that, you sort of move the needle to a happy medium between the best and worst possibilities and come up with what’s most likely. You’ll start to see as you go through this exercise that the worst-case scenario really isn’t that bad. The best-case one is good and could happen but most realistically you’re going to make some calls and you’re going to get some results. Maybe not out of this world results, but good ones that make the phone calls worth it. Going through this exercise will help with the fact that we often think about the worst-case and most unrealistic outcome. We get psyched out because we think we’ll make 30 calls and every person is going to yell at us, swear at us, and say that they hate us and hope we die, or whatever. I’m obviously being kind of over the top and facetious here but you know what I mean.
